ABOUT LAYLA

Layla Saliba (she/her) is a writer and advocate, based in New York City. Born and raised in North Carolina, she is a recent graduate of Columbia University, with a Masters in Social Work on the Policy Practice with a concentration in Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. She has a bachelors degree from North Carolina State University in Psychology with a Minor in Social Work.

Layla is an experienced writer and advocate for social change with an emphasis on working with people with disabilities, healthcare policy, and civic engagement.

Highlights include:

  • Leading a campaign to provide free menstrual products at NC State University,

  • Successfully lobbying the State of North Carolina for one million in research funding for endometriosis (a state record),

She has worked on political campaigns, at nonprofits, and in higher education. Layla is passionate about making complex policies and social issues understandable and accessible to everyone.

In her free time, you can find her feeding the NYC pigeons, reading, and spending time with friends.
